Let's have a look at the main uses of POR and PARA.  The video below will show you an even simpler way to tell them apart: PARA: * Purpose (in order to): Voy a ir al supermercado para comprar comida. * Deadline (by a certain day/date): Necesitamos terminar este informe para el lunes. * Destination (to/towards a place): Viajaremos para Buenos Aires in dos días. * Recipient (for you, for him): Este dinero es para tu hermana. POR: * (Because of, due to):  Susana no trabaja aquí por el dinero. (She doesn't work here for the money) * (By, via, by means of):Viajamos a Buenos Aires por avión. (We traveled to Buenos Aires by plane) * (Through, along): Después de graduarme, voy a viajar por Europa. ( After graduating, I will travel through Europe) * (During, in (time of day).
